What do I need to know about the new SAT?
Starting March 2024, you’ll experience the all-new digital SAT.
Here’s some of what you can expect:
You bring your own device.
On test day, you are responsible for bringing your fully charged testing device with the testing application installed ahead of time. The Bluebook™ app is compatible with Windows or Mac devices, iPads, and school-managed Chromebooks. Check out all the specific details on this Device Requirements page.
Sections are now adaptive.
The new digital SAT will adapt based on your performance. This means a more efficient test-taking experience—around two hours instead of three—where your performance in the initial section will determine the difficulty of subsequent sections.
Passages are much shorter.
Designed to help you focus better and navigate through varied texts more effectively, the SAT’s new format features shorter passages with a single question.
You can use a calculator.
The digital SAT allows calculator use throughout the math sections and a graphing calculator is actually built in to the testing application. Check out the College Board’s official Calculator Policy, if you choose to bring your own.
You’ll need to update your studying game.
