I attended Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, and I’m currently a student at the University of Chicago. I plan to double major in biology and classics, but my interests also include creative writing, philosophy, and economics.

When COVID-19 closed schools, I was grateful to receive online education that revolved around academic exploration. Believing everyone deserves the same opportunity, I started tutoring through nonprofit organizations. I love teaching because of the insightful questions I get from my students: “Where does the word phoenix come from?”; “Do Newton’s laws apply on the surface of Saturn? The sun? The edge of the universe? Why’s that, Rustom?” I know the values of empathy and curiosity I nurture as a tutor will empower me throughout life with an open mind and a commitment to service, and I’m thrilled to forge new bonds here, at Mulholland Prep, because I think passions shine more brightly when they constellate.

When I’m not delving into the classical roots of literary devices with students, I can be found scaling mountains, writing poems, and gazing lovingly into tide pools. I also enjoy cooking and playing board games with my friends and family.
